About the Scholarship
Following the Epsilon Epsilon Chapter’s 50th Anniversary in 2011, the sorority continued its commitment to Michigan State University and honored the Founders by establishing the Dr. Paulette C. Walker Endowed Scholarship Fund in August 2012 to fund the Dr. Paulette C. Walker Scholarship for Leaders. In partnership with the Michigan State University Black Alumni Association, the scholarship will support educational development, student retention and matriculation. Based upon the amount of interest for disbursal, it will also fund additional awards such as the Charter Members Scholarship for Breaking New Ground and the Ingrid Saunders Jones Scholarship for Service. The Scholarship Committee, as representatives of all Epsilon Epsilon Alumnae, will award these funds as tuition dollars to select members of the Epsilon Epsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
The Dr. Paulette C. Walker Endowed Scholarship fund was named after the National First Vice-President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in 2011 who was named the National President of the organization in 2013. As a Detroit native, Dr. Walker was initiated into the sorority through the Epsilon Epsilon Chapter in 1966 and received her Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics Education from Michigan State University followed by a Master of Arts in Guidance & Counseling and Doctor of Education in Administration & Supervision from The University of Michigan. She retired in 2011 as the Director of Undergraduate Programs and Internships of the College of Education at the University of South Florida.
